Cor Hersbach is the Coordinator Travel Advisories, Evacuation and Emergency Plans Unit at Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the Netherlands. He is the former Deputy Consul General of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Chicago. His main responsibilities are Trade and Economic Affairs as well as Cultural Affairs. In this role he promotes and identifies business opportunities for Dutch companies to the Midwest of the USA. This job is often described as a “broker in contacts”. He joined the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1980 and has served at the ministry in The Hague and diplomatic missions and international organizations abroad (Brussels, Jakarta and Nairobi) before coming to Chicago in August 2003. He is a founding member of the Dutch Chicago Business Exchange, a member (and from July 2006 to December 2008 chairman) of the Executive Committee of the Chicago International Trade Commissioners Association and a Steering Committee member of the Chicago Sustainable Business Alliance. He is married with three children (12, 10 and 4 years old) and loves jazz music, good food and travel.
