35 Hong Kong university Non Paid Interns Available from June 25 to Aug 11, 2010 (7 weeks)

I am writing for your kind consideration of volunteer opportunities for our university students in Chicago in the coming summer for 7 weeks from June 24 to Aug 11, 2010.

The Career Centre of Hong Kong Baptist University has been organizing internship program for over 10 years. The first city was Shanghai in China. Afterwards, the program has expanded to three cities in China, five cities in the U.S., two cities in Australia and one city in U.K. Please refer to our centerˇ¦s web page: sa.hkbu.edu.hk/career. The objective of the program is to enrich the studentsˇ¦ workplace experience in different cultural environment. Students will stay in the assigned city for 8 weeks with 7-week work experience in companies as interns.

The placement
We have recruited around 35 students to Chicago and they are coming from different major of studies and well verse in written and spoken English. As this is a non paid internship program, companies are not required to pay our students. You may also refer to the web site above for names of companies / organizations that have participated in our program in previous years.

The accommodation
Students will stay at the Buckingham in 59 East Van Buren in downtown Chicago from June 18 onwards. Our university will prepay all the expenses on airfare and accommodation. Students will only need to take care of their own living expenses.

Requirement of Companies
The only commitment from the company is to provide a work experience for our students. Please note that students will work as volunteers and therefore, salary is unnecessary. All the reporting hours are at your discretion, however, we strongly advise a normal office hour schedule. At the end of the day, we would ask you to complete a simple evaluation form on the performance of our students.

Insurance Coverage
Our university will arrange insurance coverage for all of our participating students.

I understand a work experience with esteemed organizations like yourselves will be very valuable and I would appreciate very much if you would offer these opportunities to our students.

Should you have any queries, please do not hesitate to contact me via email at rosatang@hkbu.edu.hk.
