Description	Attention all Importers and Customs Brokers: Tariff Classification is an essential part of the importing process and is key to effective statutory “reasonable care.” Classification affects duty rates and entitlement to duty reduction programs such as the Generalized System of Preferences, NAFTA and other trade agreements. This month’s speaker is an expert in tariff classification. Be sure to bring your laptops with the HTSUS downloaded for reference during the workshop. SPEAKER: David G. Walsh, Barnes, Richardson & Colburn TOPICS: • Effective use of GRI 1 • Sets under the tariff • Parts of General Use • Meaning of Explanatory Notes • Interpreting Rulings • Effective Ruling Requests A fee of $65 will be charged for ITCC members and $85 for non-members. The AMA meeting facility is located next to the Marriott O'Hare at the intersections of the Kennedy/O'Hare Expressway and Cumberland Ave. The River Road/O'Hare CTA train stops at Cumberland, walking distance to the AMA. Free parking is available in the Marriott parking lot; attendees should have their parking checks validated at the AMA. The International Trade Club of Chicago (ITCC) is a not-for-profit organization and all proceeds are used solely to cover the cost of ITCC activities. The ITCC appreciates the efforts of the volunteer speakers. CONTINUING EDUCATION CREDIT ATTENTION CERTIFIED CUSTOMS SPECIALISTS and ATTORNEYS: This program is approved by the NCBFAA for 2.5 CCS continuing education points. In addition, the Import Workshop Series is designated as a CLE provider by the Minimum Continuing Legal Education Board of the Supreme Court of Illinois. This program will provide three hours of credit. The ITCC will seek CLE approval for its programs from other states upon request. A $50 supplement will be charged attorneys to cover costs, including Supreme Court fees. The program is also licensed by the Illinois Department of Professional Registration for Continuing Education Credit for accountants and other professionals.
